ic410

IC410 and The Tadpoles

IC410 is a HII region in constellation Auriga. This interesting nebula and open cluster hosts two distinct small nebulae Sim129 and Sim130. Their appearance resembles tadpoles swimming in the pool of ionized hydrogen. Some sources even titles the object as The Galactic Sperm Nebula. In the center of the nebula is an associated open cluster NGC 1893. It is believed to be one of the youngest known star clusters in the sky.

NGC1499 The California nebula

The California Nebula is a huge emission nebula in Perseus. It was originally found by E.E. Barnard in late 1800's just in time to be added to original Dreyer's NGC catalogue as NGC1499. NGC1499 is probably illuminated by a hot star Xi Persei close to the nebula making it relatively bright in H-alpha, but also in H-beta which makes it possible to observe it visually.

ic1805

IC1805 The Heart Nebula

The Heart Nebula in constellation Cassiopeia is about 7500 l.y. distant large emission nebula spanning roughly hundreds of light years across. IC1805 is actually cataloged as open cluster with nebulosity, referring to the bright cluster of stars in the middle of the nebula. Radiation from these stars powers the glow of the nebula. The tip of the Heart bears it own designation NGC899, because it was found earlier due to its brightness. Heart Nebula is one of the most beautiful targets for Narrowband imagers. It has rich emission in all the channels making a very colourful target.

ngc7000

NGC7000 The North America Nebula

NGC7000 is a very large emission nebula near star Deneb in constellation Cygnus. Believed to be about 1600 light years distant this nebula resembles the continent of North America. The bright cloud of gas in what appears as Mexico region is lit by young stars and commonly referred as The Cygnus Wall. North America Nebula and its surroundings are very popular astrophotography targets for widefield setups and narrowband imagers.

DWB111 - The Propeller Nebula

This nice peculiar nebula is situated in constellation Cygnus. The "S" shape of the nebula is very symmetrical and thus resembles a propeller. The nebula, also known as Simeis 57, is part of a large Cygnus X complex of HII regions. This is a nice target for H-alfa line imaging.
